Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chairs the first meeting of National Committee on Digital Transformation

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the first meeting of the National Committee on Digital Transformation via videoconference on November 30. He  said the debut of the committee is meant to realize the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress regarding digital transformation, in the context of digital transformation becoming a common trend of the world and an objective requirement of national development.

Prime Minister Chinh hailed ministries, agencies and localities for their achievements in digital transformation, especially in three pillars of digital Government, digital economy and digital society. In the current period, digital transformation is contributing to socio-economic recovery and development, effective epidemic prevention and control, contributing to the protection of national security and defense as well as contributing to the trend of social and economic development, enhancing the role, position, potential and prestige of the country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that digital transformation activities have achieved certain achievements such as basic legal documents have issued, digital technology applications are quickly built; application of information technology used actively in all aspects of life, economy and society, especially online public services. Network safety and security are increasingly focused; Vietnam's cyber security and safety ranking has improved dramatically (in 2020, Vietnam ranked 25th out of 194 countries and territories, up 25 places compared to 2019).  The ranking of Vietnam's e-Government development index increased by 3 places compared to 2016 (according to the United Nations E-Government Development Ranking Survey Report 2020).

He instructed ministries and agencies to build decrees related to digital transformation, including electronic identification to protect personal data, regulations on the management and operation of the national database on population, among others, to submit to the Government.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Ministry of Construction to study a smart urban development planning under the Project on sustainable smart city development in Vietnam in the 2018-2025 period and orientation to 2030 (Decision No. 950/QD-TTg dated August 1, 2018) and at the same time actively perform state management tasks in planning, architecture and other fields relating database.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh assigned the Department of Science, Technology and Environment to coordinate with the Information Center to quickly synthesize information and data to prepare for the 1-year preliminary review of the implementation of the Digital Transformation Plan of the Construction industry and implementing key tasks on digital transformation of the construction industry in the next period, reporting to the leadership of the Ministry before December 15, 2021.
