The Conference announced "Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050

On January 12, 2024, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Construction organized a Conference to announce "Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050” in online and offline form. Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh; representatives of the Government Office, ministries, central branches, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of local People's Committees nationwide attended the Conference.

"Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050" is one of the national sector plannings that is assigned by the Prime Minister to the Ministry of Construction, based on the 2017 Planning Law and related legal documents, said Deputy Minister Sinh.

Immediately after the Planning Task was approved by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction actively implemented the work contents: establishing the Planning Management Board; preparation and appraisal of estimates for planning activities; bidding to select planning unit; establishment of a working Group to carry out the survey and collection information about the Planning; consultation ministries, central and local branches, associations, businesses; holding meetings to collect opinions from the Appraisal Council.

Based on the opinions of the Appraisal Council, the Ministry of Construction has completed and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the "Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050" in Decision No. 1626/QD-TTg dated December 25, 2023. Accordingly, basically all mineral areas in each locality in 6 economic regions across the country are zoned, specifically determined the area, expected resources, reserves and capacity, exploitation to facilitate the granting of mineral operating licenses, scientifically arranged in a list for each type of mineral classified by using purpose to facilitate management, monitoring, looking up and updating information during the implementation of future planning.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh said, "Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050" was developed with the goals of: Sustainable development of exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials; meeting the maximum demand for raw materials for the production of construction materials for economy; minimizing negative impacts on the ecological environment and landscape; forming a concentrated, synchronous and effective mining and processing industry of minerals for construction materials with advanced technology and modern equipment, in line with world trends.

At the Conference, the representative of the planning consultant (Joint Venture of the National Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Science and Technology and the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources) said that the planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and using  minerals as construction materials in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, have meticulously researched and built in strict compliance with the provisions of the Planning Law, Mineral Law 2010 and Decision No. 131 /QD-TTg dated January 17, 2020 of the Prime Minister, Decision No. 215/QD-BXD dated May 8, 2020 of the Ministry of Construction.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh emphasized that the Ministry of Construction highly appreciated and sincerely thanked ministries, branches, central agencies and localities, experts and scientists in the fields of geology, minerals, environment and construction materials for useful opinions. To successfully implement the Planning, the Ministry of Construction asked ministries, central branches and localities to pay attention and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction in implementation the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.

In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh requested relevant organizations and individuals to pay attention and coordinate with competent agencies to organize and implement the planning; synthesize and report relevant information and propose problems in exploration, exploitation, processing and using of minerals as construction materials.
