On October 11, 2024, in Hanoi, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic and People's Republic of Algeria to Vietnam, Sofiane Chaib.

 



Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi welcomed the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Algeria to Vietnam.

At the meeting, new Ambassador Sofiane Chaib emphasized the significance of the close cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Algeria. He noted that Vietnam and Algeria have successfully held 12 meetings of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee (ICC), covering a range of mutually beneficial areas, including economy, trade, and technology.

Currently, Algeria is focusing on reforming and innovating investment and trade policies to attract international investment and hopes that more and more Vietnamese enterprises will participate in investing and cooperating in projects in Algeria.

During the reception, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi congratulated Ambassador Chaib on his appointment, and also thanked the Ambassador for his sharing on the losses suffered by people in the northern provinces caused by storm No. 3.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi reviewed the outstanding results in the cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Algerian agencies and partners. At the 12th meeting of the Vietnam - Algeria Intergovernmental Committee held in Hanoi, the two sides actively discussed issues of mutual concern and drafted 15 memorandums of understanding between ministries and branches; had bilateral meetings, online meetings to solve obstacle. Additionally, the two countries have fostered cooperation between their local governments. Dien Bien province of Vietnam and Batna province of Algeria have signed a Twinning and Cooperation Agreement, facilitating the exchange of experiences and encouraging the implementation of various projects.

The Ministry of Construction always pays attention to and creates favorable conditions for the Vietnam - Algeria Friendship and Cooperation Association to promote its activities and contribute to the development of the cooperative relationship between the two countries. The Minister also expressed his hope that Ambassador Sofiane Chaib and the Algerian Embassy to Vietnam will work together to foster the signed agreements and support enterprises in their production and business activities in Vietnam and Algeria.

Agreeing with Ambassador Chaib, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that two sides need to coordinate closely and focus on implementing the cooperation minutes signed at the 12th Intergovernmental Committee Meeting. As the Standing Office of the Vietnam Sub-Committee in the Vietnam - Algeria Intergovernmental Committee, the Ministry of Construction will undertake a review, compile statistics, and assess the ongoing initiatives while identifying any challenges to develop timely solutions. Additionally, the Ministry will coordinate with relevant agencies to address difficulties, enhance cooperation, and strengthen bilateral relations.
