The Nguyên Sơn social housing project in Bình Chánh District has 242 apartments and the housing project for workers in Thủ Đức City’s Thạnh Mỹ Lợi ward has 368.

The city has a target of building 69,700 – 93,000 social housing units in 2021-30 as part of a national programme to build at least one million for low-income people and industrial park workers.

Since 2021 the city has completed four projects with 1,233 units. Six others are now under construction, including five for low-income earners and one for workers with a total of 4,386 apartments.

The Department of Construction attributed the slow development pace of social housing to complex investment procedures and issues related to land use and allocation.
