The building, located at 304 Kim Ma Street, Ha Noi, will undergo major renovations and retrofitting to become an eco-friendly home for the UN in Viet Nam.

The Green One-UN House will use energy and water efficiently, thus reducing the environmental footprint of the UN in Viet Nam.

Bilateral donors such as Australia, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK have generously financed the construction costs alongside participating UN agency contributions.

The signing of the MOA is a reaffirmation of the strong commitment of the Government of Viet Nam to the implementation of the Delivering as One initiative, confirmed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Vinh.

The Green One-UN House will further enhance the UN’s efforts to “deliver as one” in Viet Nam and will create a stronger and more effective UN Country Team to support the country’s development, said UN Resident Coordinator Pratibha Mehta.

Viet Nam is one of eight global pilot countries for the “Delivering as One” initiative, which aims for UN system-wide coherence and greater efficiency and effectiveness at the country level. Viet Nam is among the first countries globally to pursue programmatic synergies through co-location and functional clustering of UN staff.
