HCMC, French partner cooperate on urban planning

Ho Chi Minh City and the French region of Rhône Alpes just signed a deal on urban planning cooperation on December 19.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Huy Tin and Vice Chairman of the Rhône Alpes Council Bernard Soulage inked cooperative deals between the two sides on urban development, environment and cultural exchange.

Ho Chi Minh City wants Lyon, a city of Rhône Alpes, to back some projects on illumination in its downtown zones and buildings.

Mr. Soulage emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City is always an important partner of Rhône Alpes, adding that the two sides should foster bilateral cooperation in various spheres in the coming time.

By November 2012, the two-way trade between Ho Chi Minh City and France had reached US$567 million. With 122 investment projects totaling US$763 million, France is among the 10 biggest foreign investors in Ho Chi Minh City.
