Thanks to the implementation of the Prime Minister’s decision on assisting the poor with house construction, over the past four years, the southern province of Tien Giang has helped to build 11,435 houses for poor families in 10 districts and towns.

The houses have been built with the disbursement of over VND258 billion VND, of which VND40 billion come from community, 16.6% of the total capital.
Each house, built with a frame of concrete, steel rod or wood and walls of brick, on an area of 40 to 60 square metres, is ensured to have a firm foundation, walls and roof.
According to the provincial steering committee on the implementation of the policy, local authorities have worked closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Tien Giang provincial branch and other social-political organizations, to encourage agencies, enterprises and communities to assist the poor in improving their housing.
The program is said to be one of the largest and most effective ones in assisting housing, and has been actively welcomed by people, contributing to changing the face of rural areas and the successful building of new urban areas./.
