Hà Nội to build more commercial centers, markets

According to a trade development plan recently approved by the Hà Nội People’s Council, the capital will increase investment in building more commercial centers and markets so that it will become a trade hub by 2020.

Hà Nội will construct two wholesales markets for farm products in Long Biên – Gia Lâm urban area and Mê Linh urban area, two regional trading centers in Long Biên – Gia Lâm and Hòa Lạc urban areas, one financial center in Tây Hồ Tây urban area, a regional trading center in Long Biên - Gia Lâm; one international exhibition center in Mỹ Đình urban area, one financial and banking service center in Hà Đông district…

By 2030, the city will build three more farm product wholesales markets in Quốc Oai district and Sơn Tây town, and six regional trading centers in Chương Mỹ, Sóc Sơn, Phúc Thọ, Quốc Oai districts and Sơn Tây town.

Total investment for trade development till 2030 is VND 521,187 billion, including VND 55,430 billion in the 2011 – 2015 period.

Hà Nội will strive to make annual export turnover growth of 14 - 15% in the 2011 – 2015 period and 13 - 14% from 2016 to 2020. By 2020, the city is set to make farm product exports of US $2.2 billion, garment, US $3 billion, and electronic products, US $7.5 billion.
