The volume of cement consumed in the first six months this year reached 29.5 million tonnes, including 22.7 million tonnes of domestic consumption and 6.8 million tonnes for export, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA).
According to VNCA, domestic cement consumption is expected to reach 45-46 million tonnes in 2012, equal to that of 2012.
Cement exports saw a rise over the same period last year and the largest cement plant in Vietnam, VICEM, exported 11.7 million tonnes during the period, earning a turnover of VND14.8 trillion.
VNCA forecasts that the cement market will prosper in the second half of the year with a higher cement consumption volume./.
