Minister Pham Hong Ha warmly welcomed and thanked all professors of Portland University in general and Prof. Marcus in particular for their affection towards him and his colleagues when they studied here. Minister Ha considered this meeting as a good chance for the MoC to present some ideas in cooperation with Oregon State and Portland University, and suggested Prof. Marcus pay attention to urban development management, green city development, real estate market management, social housing development and human resource training.
Mr Ha wished Prof. Marcus would be a bridge linking the MoC with Oregon State, Portland University and other universities in the United States, especially in sharing information and experiences of legislation on urban development, real estate market management and development, in supporting schools under the MoC management in training and upgrading staffs capacity and providing scholarships for students.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Marcus highly appreciated the Minister’s ideas and vision, and confirmed those issues raised by the Minister completely consistent with cooperation agreements between Vietnam and the United States approved through talks of President Obama and Vietnam senior leaders as well as those between Governor of Oregon State and Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Notably, Prof. Marcus shared his views on the MoC’s proposal relating to legislation and policy making, multi-sector coordination mechanisms for urban development; green city ecosystem development, joint training between schools under the MoC and those of the United States…
Mr Ha agreed with Mr Marcus’s opinions to immediately implement specific works; Minister Ha asigned the Urban Development Agency to make specific proposals that need supporting and cooperation from Oregon State, Portland University and Prof. Marcus.
