Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh receives Deputy Minister of Japan Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism – Hideki HIRAI

On October 29, 2019, at the Ministry of Construction’s headquarter, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Japan Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) Hideki HIRAI on smart city development in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Hideki HIRAI thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh for warmly welcome and also expressed his delight on the cooperation between the two ministries in particular, two countries in general constantly strengthened and developed.
Summary of some results of the Japan-ASEAN Smart Cities Network Summit held in early October 2019 in Japan, Deputy Minister Hideki HIRAI said, the next Summit would take place in Vietnam in 2020 and Vietnam as co-chairperson (representing ASEAN countries) would discuss smart city development solutions in Southeast Asian countries. Therefore, Japan and Vietnam would exchange, discuss and agree the necessary contents for the Conference.
On behalf of leaders of MoC, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh thanked the Japanese Government and the MLIT for creating favorable conditions for officials and experts of the MoC to study and exchange experiences.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh expressed that: “Government of Vietnam and Ministry of Construction were interested in building and developing smart cities. In 2020, as the Chairman of ASEAN Smart Cites Network, Vietnam is actively developing plans for programs and activities next year. Japan has experiences in building and developing smart cities, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh hopes that in the coming time, Japan will help and support Vietnam in developing smart cities including development and improvement of policy institutions, especially the system of standards and regulations related to smart cities”.
