The Ministry of Construction (MoC) will promote coordination with ministries and locals to remove difficulties in developing social housing according to the Government's direction, experts said in a conference held on Wednesday in Hà Nội.
At the MoC’s conference to review the work during the first six months this year and set tasks for the remainder of the year, Đậu Minh Thanh, the Chief of the office, said that since 2021, 503 social housing projects have been started over the country with 418,200 houses. Among them, 75 projects have been completed, offering 39,884 houses.
This year's overall target set by the Government is for 130,000 social houses to be completed nationwide. Thus, the number of completion was far from the target assigned by the Government, said Thanh.
Future plan
One of the key tasks of the MoC for the remaining months of this year is urging localities to implement the project 'Building at least one million social houses for low-income earners and industrial zone workers in the period 2021-30'.
At the same time, the ministry will proactively propose solutions to rebalance supply and demand, restructure the real estate market, increase housing supply, strengthen forecast information and respond when the market has unusual fluctuations.
Director of the Hà Nội Department of Planning and Architecture Nguyễn Trọng Kỳ Anh said that the department had proposed nine land areas for building social housing with an area of about 600ha in Chương Mỹ, Quốc Oai, Hà Đông, Thanh Trì, Thường Tín, Đan Phượng, Đông Anh, Gia Lâm and the Mê Linh districts.
Land funds for social housing development are a solid basis for the capital city to complete target assigned by the Prime Minister for the period 2021-30 and stabilise the real estate market and local economy, he said.
Also at the conference, Minister of Construction Nguyễn Thanh Nghị suggested solutions in overall management and administration.
He requested units to firmly grasp the domestic and international situation to have accurate forecasts, timely advice and effective and practical measures ready.
"Along with tightening discipline and order, the construction industry will apply information technology in direction, management and administration, review the assignment of tasks towards the motto of right people - right jobs - right strengths,” said Nghị.
“From there, we will completely overcome the situation of avoiding duty, not daring to do things, not daring to take responsibility.”
The sector will also enhance the responsibility of leaders, promote inter-ministerial and local coordination, while implementing the ministry's state management function.
The MoC wants to innovate its approach and closely grasp local situations to jointly solve arising problems and create consensus in the work implementation process.
