The Ministry of Construction and GGGI strengthen cooperation on urban green growth

At the meeting, General Director Frank Rijsberman highly appreciated Vietnam’s cooperation with international organizations in implementing development policies, green growth and sustainability, including green and energy economically and effectively buildings. He also said that, GGGI is always ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Construction as well as Vietnamese partners to promote green and sustainable growth and development.

General Director Frank Rijsberman said that recently, GGGI and the Ministry of Construction signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and achieved certain results. He also hopes that the two sides will continue to exchange and discuss to sign a memorandum of cooperation, especially in areas of mutual interest such as policy development, finance resources and the participation of the private sector in green growth and sustainable development.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the Ministry of Construction and GGGI. GGGI has been very actively supporting the Ministry of Construction in urban development management and green building development.

Ministry of Construction is very interested in building and implementing green transformation policies, green growth, circular economic development, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions; encourage and organize competitions to select green building and energy economically and effectively design ideas. Ministry of Construction also always focuses on building and developing green and smart cities, including green and energy economically and effectively buildings.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van, currently the Ministry of Construction is developing a Law on Urban Development Management and a system of standards and regulations related to green and energy economically and effectively buildings; green and smart cities. The Ministry of Construction also looks forward to GGGI's support in performing the objectives.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van and General Director Frank Rijsberman agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Construction and GGGI in the coming time. The International Cooperation Department is tasked with reviewing the contents of the Minutes.
