In Vietnamese side, the participants are Dr. Le Van Thanh - Rector of NUCE, Prof. Pham Duy Hoa, Vice Rector, Prof. Pham Hung Cuong, Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Director of International Cooperation Department and other related departments of NUCE. In Japanese side, the participants are Mr. Hiroshi Ueda - Senior Vice President of JFE, Mr. Akira Kazama - Assistant Director, Steel Research Laboratory, Mr. Hirohumi, General Manager - Project Marketing Department, Mr. Koji Maeno - General Director, JFE Steel Vietnam Co., Ltd. and related members of JFE.
According to Dr. Le Van Thanh – Rector of NUCE: the image of JFE has been introduced recently via Vietnamese media such as Newspaper of Construction, NUCE website. Therefore, JFE's reputation has been interested by many Vietnamese engineers. Some leaders of NUCE also directly visited the factory of JFE in Japan and understood that JFE steel has high quality, the Vietnamese construction industry will need to apply JFE steel in the future. The purpose is how to influence JFE in Vietnamese engineers to realize about its quality and application in construction. Therefore, the cooperation between the two parties is essential to discuss specific strategies.
Mr. Hiroshi Ueda, Senior Vice President of JFE expressed his appreciation on efforts of NUCE in implementing the cooperation. Through the activities implemented between two parties, it indicated the strong and fruitful relationship. JFE is currently leading the steel technology in Japan, hopefully via this collaboration; JFE Steel will be well-known and applied in the construction of Viet Nam.
On November 15, 2013 the ceremony of signing MOU between NUCE and JFE was signed to deepen the cooperative relationship and contribute to the infrastructure development of Viet Nam. Since then, joint activities were implemented by two sides.
In the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Director of International Cooperation Department has presented two research projects of NUCE and JFE. The themes focus on new methods of pile and tunnel and underground works. The results of proposed research will be applied to the practical work in the cities of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh.
After discussion, the two sides have agreed some main topics as follows: a workshop will be held in November 2014 on the application of JFE in Viet Nam; Currently JFE has been conducting the research on the application of steel in Vietnamese construction, after finishing, its results will be transferred to NUCE; JFE steel may be included in the content of lectures in the future; Viet Nam is currently carrying out a lot of underground and infrastructure projects, therefore the two sides should actively implement the long-term strategic cooperation.
