This was stated by former head of the Ministry of Construction's building materials department and deputy director of Vietbuild organisation committee Nguyen Quang Cung on March 20.

He told a press conference that by showing new construction technologies and materials, Vietbuild would focus on developing large domestic producers and new products as well as foreign manufacturers of technology.

"Saving energy and being environmentally friendly will be the theme of the exhibition this time, especially nanotechnology," Cung said.

Saving energy in producing building materials was also a common trend worldwide, which helped reduce product prices and enhance efficiency.

Unlike exhibitions in many other countries, Vietbuild focused on products rather than technologies, which meant the exhibition would offer new ideas to businesses.

In addition to construction materials, Vietbuild would also promote real estate projects because the two ran hand in hand.

The exhibition this year has attracted interest from 1,350 showcases of 450 enterprises, 209 of which were domestic producers. Companies from 19 nations and territories will also join Vietbuild, particularly Chinese firms.
