Gov’t to boost infrastructure development in poorest districts

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has decided to increase financial support for 23 districts with highest poverty rate to upgrade infrastructure.

These districts are Thach An (Cao Bang); Lam Binh (Tuyen Quang); Bat Xat, Sa Pa, and Van Ban (Lao Cai); Binh Gia, Dinh Lap (Lang Son), Muong Cha and Tuan Giao (Dien Bien); Da Bac and Kim Boi (Hoa Binh), Quy Chau (Nghe An); Dong Giang and Nam Giang (Quang Nam); Song Hinh and Dong Xuan (Phu Yen); Dak Glei, Sa Thay and Kon Ray (Kon Tum); K Bang, Kon Chro, Krong Pa and La Pa (Gia Lai).

This is part of Government’s efforts to realize the Resolution No. 30a/2008/NQ-CP, dated December 27, 2008 on fast and sustainable poverty reduction support program in 61 poor districts.

The financial assistance will last for five years from 2013 to 2017.

The money will be used to invest in building secondary education schools, boarding schools for ethnic people, vocational training facilities, irrigation projects and roads among others./.
