Australia’s East Meets West Foundation has provided Ben Tre province with nearly AUD 500,000($472,000) to implement a water supply and sanitation project.

The sum will be used to build nine clean water supply systems to benefit more than 4,600 households in 20 communes in the province.
To date, three out of the nine have been completed, supplying clean water to 46 households in the locality and another six plants are in the preliminary phases of construction.
The fund has also granted more than VND 3.6 billion ($169,130 ) in non-refundable assistance to help the province build 4,250 toilets for local households. However, the progress of the project is quite slow.
Vice Chairman of the provincial Peoples’ Committee Tran Anh Tuan pledged to speed up the project and seriously realise their commitments to the organization.
